Pre & Aftercare

Before & after your appointment

A little preparation and gentle aftercare make all the difference to how your colour heals and lasts. Here's everything you need to know.

Step one

Before your appointment

In the days before

  • Gently exfoliate and hydrate your lips daily for about a week beforehand.
  • Keep lips moisturised with a nourishing balm.
  • Stay well hydrated and eat before you arrive.
  • If you're prone to cold sores, begin a prescribed antiviral 2–3 days before — this is essential for lip blush.

Please avoid (24–48 hours)

  • Alcohol and caffeine — both thin the blood.
  • Fish oil, ibuprofen and aspirin, unless medically required.
  • Lip filler within four weeks before or after.
  • Retinol or active exfoliants on the lips for a week prior.

On the day

  • Arrive with clean, makeup-free lips.
  • Let us know of any changes to your health or medication.
  • Reschedule if you have an active cold sore or are unwell.
  • Come relaxed — the appointment is unhurried and comfortable.
What to expect

Healing, day by day

Days 1–3

Lips look full and colour is bold and glossy. A little swelling and tenderness is completely normal — blot gently and keep clean.

Days 3–5

Colour deepens and a light film begins to peel. Lips may feel tight and dry — balm lightly and resist any urge to pick.

Days 5–10

Peeling finishes and colour can look very light — almost gone. Don't worry: it resurfaces softly as the skin settles.

Weeks 4–6

True, softened colour emerges. Your complimentary touch-up perfects shape, evenness and depth.

Step two

Aftercare essentials

Please do

  • Blot the lips and keep them clean and dry.
  • Apply your aftercare balm sparingly with a clean cotton tip.
  • Drink through a straw for the first few days.
  • Sleep on your back where possible for the first night or two.
  • Wear SPF on the lips once fully healed to protect your colour.

Please don't

  • Pick, peel, scratch or rub the lips while healing.
  • Wear lipstick or lip products until fully healed (10–14 days).
  • Swim, sauna, steam or do intense, sweaty workouts for 7–10 days.
  • Eat very spicy, salty, acidic or oily foods straight off the lips.
  • Expose healing lips to direct sun or sunbeds.

Cold sores & concerns

Because lip blush can trigger cold sores, an antiviral before and after is essential if you're prone to them. If anything feels unusual during healing, message us on Instagram — we're always here to help.
